The Section Tally dataset provides a comprehensive overview of academic course sections, focusing on scheduling, location, instructor assignments, and enrollment management. It is designed to help academic administrators, department heads, and schedulers monitor and analyze course offerings, room utilization, and course enrollment patterns.
Key Columns & Their Descriptions
- Term: The academic term or semester (e.g., "fall 2025").
- Course: Full course name, including subject, code, and title.
- Seats Available: Number of seats still available for enrollment in the section.
- Course Attribute: Special attributes of the course (e.g., honors, clinical).
- All Meeting Times: Combined meeting times for the section.
- Instructor(s): Names of all instructors assigned to the section.
- Part of Term: Specific part of the term with start and end dates.
- Session: Type of session (e.g., day, hybrid, hyflex).
- CRN: Course Reference Number, a unique identifier for the section.
- Section: Section number of the course.
- Enrolled: Number of students currently enrolled.
- Hours: Credit or contact hours for the section.
- Campus: Campus location where the section is offered.
- Room: Room assigned for the section.
- Wait List Available: Number of waitlist spots still available.

Tips On using the AI
- Use clear, natural language to ask questions about courses, instructors, days, times, or campus.
- Include specific details such as course subject, instructor name, day, or campus to narrow results.
- Always mention or select the academic term; all results are tied to the selected term.
- Use either the first or last name when referring to instructors; partial matches will be returned if needed.
- You can correct or refine your question in follow-up messages without starting over.
- The chatbot maintains context across follow-up questions unless you reset or change the topic.
- To start fresh, choose a new term or press “reset” to clear filters and prior conversation.
- You may ask the chatbot what data columns are available, or for descriptions of specific data fields.
- Avoid vague or overly broad questions; the chatbot performs best when queries are specific and well-formed.
